Board Member, Florida Research Consortium

Mr. Bahram Yusefzadeh was re-elected for a new three year term as a member of the board for the Florida Research Consortium in February of 2007.

The Florida Research Consortium was founded as a 501(c)(3) corporation in October of 2001 through the collective efforts of the Governor's office, select legislators, university officials and the business community. One of the initial missions of the Consortium was to advise the Legislature and Office of the Governor on strategic policy initiatives for expanding and strengthening Florida's high-tech industries.

Together with collaborative organizations, the Consortium was instrumental in the creation of the 2002 Technology Development Act. The act embodies the states desire to be among the top high-tech economic centers in the nation and its establishment and funding of University Centers of Excellence recognizes the need to enhance the state's research capabilities as the important first step in moving Florida to this pinnacle. This, together with concentrated industry presence, a strengthened work force and a supportive entrepreneurial environment will create a critical mass of self sustaining economic development and generate thousands of technology jobs. Success will require continued cooperation at the most senior levels of the state, its universities and private industry. Through the Florida Research Consortium, it will take place in Florida.
